Q Can I change my plan any number of times?

Yes, plan change is allowed any number of times. But, a few things can vary based on the current plan, new Plan & MAU Usage. Here's what can happen when you opt for a new plan:

  • The plan gets activated immediately.

OR

  • The plan will be scheduled to change on session renewal.

Q What are the charges raised upon changing a plan?

Charges raised:

  • Plan price paid instantly (monthly to yearly upgrade)- In this, you pay the price instantly, upon which the plan applies 24 hours after activation.

  • The plan difference amount is settled at the next renewal (Even if a new plan is applied immediately)

  • There are no settlement charges for scheduled changes.

Q Can I change my plan at any moment?

No! Plan can only change after the initial 24 hours of activation.

Q How is plan difference managed when changing plans multiple times?

For changes in the plan where the amount is adjusted at the next renewal, If the user switches between multiple plans, then change is calculated as per the last plan before the subscription renews.

Let's look at some examples of what happens when you upgrade/ downgrade from a plan.

Case 1: When the user moves to a higher MAU/month plan.

  • Changes are applied immediately.

  • The billing cycle remains the same.

  • No immediate charge is raised.

  • MAU Quota is updated immediately

Example

Let's consider that you opt for a Monthly Plan:

  • Date: 02/02/2020

  • Plan activation : 02/02/2020, 06:30:35 PM

  • MAU Quota: 2000 MAU/month

  • Amount paid: 999₹

You upgrade your plan on 10th February.

  • Date: 10/02/2020

  • Plan Upgraded to-> 5000 MAU/month

  • Amount: 2750₹

  • Update MAU Quota -> 5000 MAU/month

So, what will be the implications of this on your next billing cycle? Here's what will happen on the 2nd of March, 6:30:35 P.M.

Case 2: Monthly to Monthly Downgrade

When the user moves to a lower MAU/month plan.

  • If the MAU Quota of the new plan is lower than the current month's MAU Usage, then Upon the next renewal, invoices are generated as per the new plan.

If the MAU Quota of the new plan is higher than the current month's MAU Usage

  • Changes are applied immediately

  • The billing cycle remains the same.

  • No immediate charge is raised.

  • MAU Quota is updated immediately.

Example

Let's understand the effects of plan downgrade with an example.

  • Date: 02/02/2020

  • Plan activation : 02/02/2020 , 06:30:35 PM

  • MAU Quota: 5000 MAU/month

  • Amount paid: 2750₹

You want to downgrade the plan. So, on the 10th of February,

  • Date: 10/02/2020

  • Plan change to -> 2000 MAU/month

  • Current MAU Usage: 500 (less then 2000 -> Apply Immediately)

  • Amount: 999₹

  • Updated MAU Quota-> 2000 MAU/month

Implications of downgrading the plan:

  • Date: 02/03/2020

  • Session Renews at: 02/03/2020 , 06:30:35 PM

  • MAU Usage: 3200

For excess use of 1200 MAU, the user is charged 1500Rs (750Rs/ 1000 MAU)

  • MAU Quota: 5000 MAU/month

  • Amount paid: 2750₹

  • Date: 10/02/2020

  • Plan changed to-> 2000 MAU/month

  • Current MAU Usage: 2500 (more than 2000 -> Apply at session renewal)

  • Amount: 999₹

  • Update MAU Quota -> 2000 MAU/month (Quota not updated immediately)

Notice here that the MAU usage is 2500 as of the 10th of February, 500 more than what you can use in the 2000 MAU Plan.

Case 3: Monthly to Yearly Upgrade

When the User moves to any yearly plan from the monthly plan:

  • Changes are applied immediately.

  • The billing cycle remains the same.

  • An immediate charge is raised via the checkout portal, and the plan is upgraded only on successful payment.

  • The monthly amount is not refunded, therefore the remaining MAU is added to the yearly plan.

  • MAU usage continues and is not rested.

  • MAU Quota is updated with Old MAU Quota + New Yearly MAU Quota

  • Date: 02/02/2020

  • Plan activation : 02/02/2020 , 06:30:35 PM

  • MAU Quota : 5000 MAU/month

  • Amount paid : 2750₹ (Taxes excluded)

On 10th February, the user decides to opt for the yearly plan:

  • Current MAU Usage continues: 5000 MAU

  • Update MAU Quota -> 5000 MAU/month + 24000 MAU/Year = 29000 MAU/Year

  • The billing cycle starts from the same date as the current monthly cycle.

  • Immediate charge is raised from the primary card (via backend only -> no checkout needed).

  • If payment fails then the invoice stays in payment due state

  • Dunning policy starts

  • The yearly amount is not refunded, therefore the remaining MAU is added to a monthly plan.

  • MAU usage is set to 0.

  • MAU Quota is updated with New Monthly MAU Quota + Remaining Yearly Quota

** Validity of those MAU will also be 1 month and will be rested at monthly renewal.

Example

  • Date: 02/02/2020

  • Plan activation : 02/02/2020 , 06:30:35 PM

  • MAU Quota: 24000 MAU/Year

  • Amount paid: 10789₹ (Taxes excluded)

The user downgrades from a yearly to a monthly plan on 10th February

  • This new changed plan is applied when year-end or MAU finishes in the yearly plan.

  • The billing cycle will reset to the time of activation of the new plan.

  • The new plan amount is charged as soon as the new plan is applied automatically.

  • If payment fails then the invoice stays in payment due to state & the Dunning policy starts.

  • No MAU is adjusted if the plan ends and there are MAU remaining from the previous plan.

  • MAU Quota is updated with New Yearly Quota
